The last point is helpful if you want to boost a broad spectrum of frequencies but what if there is just one specific frequency you want to cut? Parts t aken from previous post. Try to aim for almost no gain reduction for the most quiet parts of the recording.
This is one of the best compressors out there. Turns out that you can have someone inside your computer do that on command, automagically, being respectful of the volume changes so they are just right, and you can compare the results immediately instead of pressing undo, redo, undo, undo, redo.

Each track has a green or grey if no other effects are reaacomp FX button that allows you to add any FX to the track this is also the button to hit to select VST instruments. You’ll need to set compresxor threshold accordingley. The best thing to do is cut the bad frequencies and then adjust the volume up if necessary.

You are not limited to reacop bands. It gives unlimited band control over your mix.
These can be used at each end, cutting off any frequency beyond the the far ends of the frequency spectrum. Play with the knee size. It provides visual feedback for both input signals, output deacomp how much the compressor is kicking in. So, get to work. Just run it through Levelator. I recommend you flick though them to see the different settings and sounds.
This will open the selection of plugins and effects you can use. It took a while to tweak but I think the results speak for themselves. I did something similar, did many tests using reaclmp pirated, sorry plugins from the great plugin-makers of today on drums in particular, but decided that I could be without the piracy and just teacomp with the Reacomp.
